Dear Highland Park neighbors,

We want to acknowledge the heavy heart many in our community are carrying. Between the recent tragedy in Minneapolis and the fear caused by immigration enforcement activity in our own streets, we know that many of our neighbors are feeling vulnerable and uncertain.

We want to say clearly to every member of our community: You are not alone, and you belong here.

The Highland District Council aspires to build a vibrant, welcoming, safe neighborhood but understands that aspiration is only possible through community; the ability to find joy with one another and to look out for one another during the challenging times. 

Even in these difficult moments, we are profoundly moved by the way Highland Park shows up for one another. Whether it is neighbors ensuring students make it to school safely, organizing and delivering meals, or simply checking in on a friend, these acts of kindness are the true reflection of who we are.
