HDC Annual Meeting and Elections
If you live or represent a business in the Highland area and are old enough to vote, you’re already a member of the Highland District Council (HDC). On April 23rd the HDC will hold its annual membership meeting and elect 9 directors for its 18-member board of directors. The meeting will be held at Champps Restaurant at 2401 West 7th St in Sibley Plaza, registration, and appetizers start at 6:30 pm, with Grid Elections at 7:00 pm. Agenda All members are eligible to run as candidates and vote in the elections.
Serving as an HDC board is great way to get involved and serve your neighborhood. Board members serve two-year terms and are expected to:
* attend board meetings which last 1 to 2 hours and are generally held evenings on the first Thursday of each month
* serve on one of three standing committees (Transportation, Community Development or Community Services) which generally meet once per month
* volunteer at HDC events such as the Fall clean-up, Home Improvement Fair, Tour de Highland, annual meeting, etc.
Elections will be held for 2 at-large positions (representing the entire neighborhood),6 representatives for even number grids and a special election for Grid 5 (grid map).
Even number grids include the following areas:
Grid 2-Area north of Ford Parkway and south of Randolph between Cleveland and Fairview. Grid 4-Area north of Highland Parkway and south of Randolph between Fairview and Snelling.
Grid 6-Area north of Montreal and south of Ford Parkway between Finn and Fairview.
Grid 8-Area roughly north of Worcester Avenue and south of Ford Parkway between Mississippi River Blvd and St. Paul Ave.
Grid 10- Area roughly defined by Worcester Avenue/St. Paul Ave. on the north, Mississippi River Blvd on the southwest and West 7th St. to the southeast.
Grid 12- Area defined by Alton St. to the southwest, West 7th St. to Homer on the northwest, Homer/Shepard Rd. to the north, 35E to the east and the Mississippi River to the south-southeast
Grid 5 – Area north of West 7th Street and south of Randolph between Hamline and 35E
