Charrie Willis
Agenda Topics:
1. Selection of committee secretary. One member volunteered and committee approved Luba Hickey as secretary.
2. Flier distribution to residents regarding city council proposed changes to Highland Parkway, making it a "Bike Boulevard". Some members felt fliers did not state all the changes that were being proposed to Highland Pwky as was presented by David Kuebler, city engineer, at the June 30th meeting, such as bicyclists having priority usage of the road over motor vehicles. A motion was put forward by Gorgia Dietz to add definition of "Bike Boulevard" vs. "Bike Path" to flier information and to distribute fliers to residents along Pinehurst, Highland Parkway and Eleanor Avenues. Kathy Carruth will add information to fliers and they will be available for pick up at the Recreation Center desk tomorrow.3. Discussion of the proposal for pedestrian bridge removal behind Edgecumbe School. Some members felt that crime is an issue surrounding the bridge. The bridge is no longer used for its intended purpose to have children cross the railway safely on their way to the neighborhood school. A motion was presented by Georgia Dietz and seconded by Bruce Gaarder to address the overgrown vegetation along the rail line. Kathy Carruth will contact the city with a follow-up letter. Joe McCabe will pen a letter to the Ford Plant to address removal of the overgrown vegetation along the rail line.
A motion for adjournment was made and approved at 7:20 pm.
Luba D. Hickey, Secretary
