February meeting minutes were approved.
Highland Garagefest/Sidewalk Sale- We are partnering with Highland Business Association and Tom Kreuzer (Community member and professional garage saler) to put on the Highland Garagefest and Sidewalk sale. There will be a workshop with tips on garage sales April 13th at the Hillcrest Rec. Center. The Garagefest and Sidewalk sale will take place Saturday May 15th; sign up (to have your garage sale included on the map) by May 7th.
CP Rail/ Railroad Clean-up- committee members are asked to help spread the work about the Railroad clean-up and find volunteers. Kathy is contacting schools, boy scouts and including it in the newsletter.
Homecroft Night Out planning- We have met 3 times. Information is being gathered on cost for t-shirts, trophies, wristbands etc. before asking for donations from businesses. Providing food is again on the table as a possibility. Contact has not yet been made with possible food donors or information regarding food options. We had hoped to have a flier available for consideration at this meeting. We will need about 12 volunteers. There is a woman who will provide face painting for kids, and we would like to find someone to help with games, like hula-hoops, juggling etc. Rick Hugley's niece is able to DJ for us. Still waiting on information regarding availability of electricity and bathrooms and whether our insurance will cover a sporting event. Sherry will be receiving information regarding "Safe Places" for kids programs.
Crime Prevention Coordinator report- Dennis Rosemark asked Rick to do a crime report going back as many years as possible. He has had difficulty getting information from the police department. They are busy with the change of police chiefs, and just getting information that far back is difficult. He has just finished the report and sent it to Dennis. He is still working on getting requested information for the Homecroft event. He emailed a request to Monica at the W7th Business association.
New Business- Highland Neighbors Against Crime is doing a Police Chief Forum and has asked Rick to give an overview of the Highland Crime Prevention Plan.
Committee chair reminded and requested committee members to attend the Crime Prevention Planning Workshop on April 22nd from 6-8:30pm, put on by Diane Wanner with the City Council for all District Councils.
Meeting Adjourned.
